The voice of “fair price” rises against medical deserts

Pthere was a moment of post-juvenile joy: we found Jean-Pierre Descombes, the unforgettable presenter of the “20-hour games”, the ineffaceable voice-over of “Just price” and “A golden family”. In May, the idol of our 12 years (and beyond) had revealed, on the channel Non Stop People, that he had suffered from Parkinson’s disease for ten years. The worsening of his state of health had then forced him to put aside his professional activity, consisting of occasional television appearances (as in “La Grosse Rigolade” by Cyril Hanouna) and to animate trade fairs and supermarkets. Aged 74, Jean-Pierre Descombes has not said his last word. A few weeks ago, he participated – on a voluntary basis – in the shooting of a clip intended to encourage the installation of a new doctor in Vailly-sur-Sauldre (650 inhabitants), in the north of the Cher.

Master Capello’s former acolyte now lives in a nearby town, Argent-sur-Sauldre, year round, where he has transformed his country house into a main residence. When the health professionals of the territory (nurses, physiotherapists, pharmacist…) asked him to ask him to play the actor, Jean-Pierre Descombes jumped at the opportunity. “The medical shortage, he explains, is a subject that touches me for the reasons you imagine. “ In front of the camera of an amateur production company, the host declaimed a text from his pen extolling the strengths of Vailly-sur-Sauldre in the manner of a “Imaginary radiography”. One goal: to convince a general practitioner to open a practice on site.

The village does not stop, in fact, mourning the death of one of its two doctors, Doctor Thierry Danancher, who died at the age of 58 by a pulmonary embolism in early August. Suddenly confronted with the scourge of medical desertification, the community of communes (CDC) “Strong country – Sancerrois – Val-de-Loire” voted a budget of 150,000 euros intended to attract a replacement. All avenues are being studied, in addition to the production of three promotional clips: calls for tenders from medical schools, organization of “discovery” weekends for interns, use of an agency specializing in the recruitment of practitioners. foreigners …

Gracious contribution

Jean-Pierre Descombes, in Vailly-sur-Sauldre (Cher), October 15, 2021.

“We will do everything in our power to find someone”, supports Régine Audry, vice-president of the CDC in charge of health, also mayor of Subligny and, herself, a former champion of television games in the 1990s. Her main gains? A photo safari in Kenya, at “The Wheel of Fortune”, and a car, won at “Bigdil”. Régine Audry also took part in the “20 Hours Games” in their restored version, during a recording in Sancerre. It goes without saying that the gracious contribution of Jean-Pierre Descombes to the operation “desperately seeking doctor” is not to displease him.
