The voices – “Handball like that simply shouldn’t be a penalty!”

You can read HERE what people had to say in the team camps after the duels between WAC and SC Austria Lustenau, SCR Altach and FC Blau-Weiß Linz as well as FK Austria Wien and WSG Tirol!

Manfred Schmid (WAC coach): “The first half was as we imagined, we prepared the opponent. Nevertheless, we needed a dream goal to take the lead. A second goal would also have been possible. Then we conceded a goal and you could see that our head was in it. In the second half you could see in many situations that the players were unsettled. We also saw that there was a lack of impact at the front, we simply can’t replace one or two players like that.”Andreas Heraf (Lustenau coach): “The team implemented the match plan perfectly, the only story that didn’t fit , was that we were down 0-1 due to a lucky shot. We wanted to go into the break with a 0-0 or a lucky 1-0 and then achieve success through pressing and transition situations. That made the team outstanding. The WAC found it difficult to free themselves and we didn’t take advantage of three or four 100% chances to score. All in all, the team put in a great performance. There are fewer and fewer games, but the opportunity to catch up is still there.” Joachim Standfest (Altach coach): “The result and the performance are very disappointing. It fits well with the fact that we lead twice and get the equalizer twice from standard rebounds. We weren’t at 100 percent.”Gerald Scheiblehner (Blau-Weiß-Linz coach): “The penalty for Altach wasn’t a penalty for me, a handball like that simply shouldn’t be a penalty. In a situation like this it’s unbelievable, it’s about the existence of the club. I think we played a great game, we came back from behind twice, it was a well-deserved point. The fewer laps left, the better for us. We have to win two of our three home games, then we’re through.”Michael Wimmer (Austria coach): “Congratulations to the team, we played a very good first half and deservedly go into the break with a 2-0 lead. After the break it was okay, from the 60th minute onwards we relaxed a bit, lost a bit of control and had chances to score. We were a bit lucky there. I was pleased that we confirmed Wolfsberg’s appearance. That we got into the game well and had a certain amount of looseness in possession of the ball. Now it’s time to enjoy your success. Then we have to make sure that we can confirm the performance again in Tyrol and accept the challenge again.”Thomas Silberberger (WSG coach): “It was a deserved victory for Austria because of what happened between the 10th and 45th minute. Before that and then we played a passable away game. If you don’t defend well, it will be difficult at Austria. In the second half we missed three 100% chances. We then went ‘all in’ and Austria made it 3-0 on the counterattack. But the performance in the second half was such that we want to continue there on Tuesday. If we lose and Lustenau wins, we will have a game on Saturday (against Lustenau, note) that no one needs, in which our nerves are on edge.”
