The Volvo EX30 has a big software problem that makes the electric SUV dangerous, the brand recalls more than 70,000 cars


Volvo has just announced the recall of all of its EX30 models produced to date due to a software issue. The move comes as other major manufacturers, such as Tesla and Stellantis, have also recently issued massive recalls over safety concerns.

Recently, Tesla recalled more than 125,000 cars due to a defect in the seat belt warning system. For its part, Stellantis, more than eight million vehicles due to defective airbags supplied by Takata. Even Peugeot had to recall its new e-3008 electric SUV because of welding problems on the rear suspension crossmember.

Volvo has just joined the list of manufacturers carrying out massive recalls by recalling all 71,956 EX30 manufactured to date. This is due to a software problem which puts the speedometer into test mode when starting the vehicle. The company assured that this problem can be resolved via an online updateand owners can do it themselves or go to a dealership to have it done for free.

Fortunately, no accidents or injuries has not been reported in connection with this issue. Volvo has reassured owners of EX30 by sending them notifications.

To benefit from this OTA update, EX30 owners have two options : either start the update when their car asks them to, either go at a dealership to do it for free. The manufacturer also reassured the public about the simplicity and effectiveness of the latter. This massive recall, while concerning, shows how Volvo seeks to quickly rectify issues and maintain the trust of its users.

This recall affects both vehicles already in circulation and those still in stock, of course demonstrates Volvo’s desire not to leave any potentially affected vehicle uncorrected. EX30s produced after this update will no longer have this problem.
