The Wages of Fear in short
According to the film’s official synopsis, The Wages of Fear takes place in the middle of the desert. Near a refugee camp, an oil well catches fire and threatens the lives of the locals. To avoid disaster, there is only one solution: cause an explosion in the well in less than 24 hours with nitroglycerin.

The remake of a great film
Released in 1953, The Wages of Fearthe first adaptation of the eponymous novel by Georges Arnaud with Yves Montand and Charles Vanel as headliners, received a multitude of prestigious awards: Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival, Golden Bear at the Berlin Festival and even BAFTA at the best film in 1955.
This classic of French cinema saw a first American remake in 1958, but it is above all Sorcererrereading by William Friedkin (The Exorcist) released in 1977, which left its mark.
Produced by Labyrinthe Films and TF1 Studio, this new Netflix version is co-written by Hamid Hlioua (Robbers: the series) and Julien Leclercq (Robbers). The latter is also behind the camera and directs a cast made up of Alban Lenoir (AKA), Franck Gastambide (Medellin), Ana Girardot (Two me) and Sofiane Zermani (The Silver Venus).
