Fear the Walking Dead

Followed five years after the launch of TWD The first TWD spin-off was “Fear the Walking Dead” in 2015. A story set during the beginnings of the zombie apocalypse was told with completely new actors.

However, due to numerous time jumps, the timelines of FTWD and the parent series TWD crossed and some TWD characters were able to become part of the spin-off.

For example, Morgan Jones, who was the first person Rick Grimes met in TWD, and the ex-Savior Dwight have become an integral part of the spin-off. However, in the midseason finale of Season 8, Morgan left to search for Rick. So it’s possible that there will be a crossover with the spin-off “The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live.”

In this country you can watch FTWD on Amazon Prime Video.

A third series from the TWD universe followed in autumn 2020, “The Walking Dead: World Beyond”. The series is set in a community in Nebraska, ten years after the apocalypse.

The focus is on a group of teenagers who are the first generation to grow up in the apocalypse. They want to experience for themselves what is lurking behind the walls of their protected small town and set off. However, the series only lasts two seasons with ten episodes each. “The Walking Dead: World Beyond” can also be seen streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Tales of the Walking Dead

The spin-off “Tales of the Walking Dead” is a little out of line. The anthology series from the TWD universe tells a complete story of a character from the original series in each episode. So we saw villain Alpha again.

“Tales of the Walking Dead” can be seen on MagentaTV in this country.

Although it has long been rumored that Negan would get his own TWD spin-off, it was surprising that he would now form a duo with his arch-enemy Maggie. In June 2023, the TWD spin-off “The Walking Dead: Dead City” started in the USA on AMC and AMC+. In it, Negan and Maggie roam Manhattan, New York City, to rescue Maggie’s son Hershel from the clutches of a brutal villain.

The series starts in Germany on October 13, 2023 on MagentaTV. With a trick you can also watch “The Walking Dead: Dead City” on AMC+.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon

It was originally planned that Carol and Daryl would get a spin-off together, which would appear in 2023. But Melissa McBride has now left the project because filming was supposed to take place in Europe. In “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon,” the taciturn motorcyclist is supposed to start over on his own.

Since we are in the last scene of World Beyond Having learned that the zombie apocalypse probably originated in France, we could see Daryl searching for the beginning and end of the virus. In the finale of “The Walking Dead” we already saw that Daryl left. On his journey he also wants to look for Michonne and Rick.

It is now clear that Daryl is actually roaming around France. Melissa McBride was also seen filming the series in Paris with Norman Reedus. So we can look forward to a reunion of the dream team. A second season of “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon” has already been confirmed.

The series has been running in the USA on AMC and AMC+ since September 2023. The series will start in Germany at the end of the year on MagentaTV. However, with a trick you can already see “Daryl Dixon” in Germany.

In November 2018, Gimple announced on the TWD talk show Talking Dead, which airs in the USA after every new TWD episode, that he plans to make three TWD films.

The main role will be played by none other than Andrew Lincoln, who will once again portray ex-police officer Rick Grimes in the films after his exit from the parent series.

Also appearing will be Jadis/Anne (Pollyanna McIntosh), who handed Rick over to a new, secret group after the bridge explosion. After Danai Gurira’s exit from the series, it was also speculated that Michonne could become part of the film franchise. After all, in the series she goes looking for Rick after finding some clues to his whereabouts.

Since San Diego Comic-Con 2022 it has been clear that these films will not exist. Instead, a separate spin-off series for Rick and Michonne was announced. This will not appear on AMC and AMC+ until 2024; in Germany it will find its streaming home on MagentaTV.

The series is titled “The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live” and follows Michonne’s search for Rick as well as Rick’s time in the clutches of the Civic Republic Military.

This is how the series are connected

To get the feeling of a real seriesuniverse There are of course some connecting points between the series. In “The Walking Dead”, “Fear the Walking Dead” and “The Walking Dead: World Beyond” this has so far been expressed through crossovers of some characters and cleverly scattered Easter eggs.

For example, the attentive FTWD viewer already knew before the 14th episode of TWD Season 10 aired that there was a famous country singer behind Beta’s mask. In FTWD, actor Ryan Hurst was already seen on a record that the character Daniel dropped.

But since Season 8 of TWD, attempts have been made to weave a larger construct around all series and films and to connect all titles. A mysterious symbol consisting of three rings was repeatedly shown. The network is behind it “Civic Republic Military”, CRM for short. This also plays an increasingly important role in FTWD and World Beyond.

This is what you need to know about the CRM

Initially, the CRM was often referred to as the “Helicopter Group”, as helicopters with the three-ring logo began to appear constantly starting with TWD Season 8. Jadis/Anne maintained contact with the group via radio and was supposed to deliver people to them, which she divided into “A” and “B” people. Rick belongs to the “B” category. The CRM will also be part of the Rick and Michonne spin-off.

But the CRM also appeared in FTWD Season 5. Morgan’s group is attacked by undead CRM soldiers. After Al examines the body more closely, she is knocked unconscious and kidnapped by a live CRM soldier.

It turns out that Isabelle was behind the soldier’s helmet, who reveals that she belongs to the CRM and that she and her colleague Beckett were looking for fuel for the helicopters. Because the two women are attracted to each other, they decide not to tell anyone about their encounter. Because Isabelle is tasked with killing anyone who finds out anything about the CRM.

The CRM is a military alliance that also plays a role in “The Walking Dead: World Beyond.” The CRM stages a massacre in the Nebraska community, Campus Colony, in which thousands of people die. Even before this incident, the protagonists of the spin-off disappear to find the father of the two sisters Hope and Iris.

Through “World Beyond” we also learn that Jadis/Anne is now a high-ranking CRM soldier.

Scott M. Gimple also revealed in an interview with the US magazine Entertainment Weekly that the CRM affects all series in the TWD universe, but is not the focus of the story.

The organization is a major common point of contact for all works in the AMC TWD franchise.
