  • In episode 5 of “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon” we not only get a small cameo from Carol, but also an important clue.
  • Rick Grimes may have appeared in the Commonwealth.
  • But it could also be that “Daryl Dixon” wants to lead us on the wrong track.

“The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon” has a special scene in store for Daryl and also for us fans in episode 5. In a flashback we see, on the one hand, how Daryl ended up in France: in his search for Rick Grimes and Michonne, he travels to Freeport, Maine.

Because he’s running out of gas there, he signs up for a group that gives out fuel in exchange for fresh walkers of a certain size. This force is led by a man named Jones (Gilbert Glenn Brown) and a French scientist (François Delaive). They are the ones who later kidnap Daryl on their cargo ship.

But before Daryl involuntarily travels to France, he can radio again Make contact with Carol in the Commonwealth. He reveals to her that he is in Maine and will return in a week. Carol tries to tell Daryl that someone has returned, but the connection is so bad that neither Daryl nor the audience can tell who has returned to the Commonwealth. Before Daryl can find out, radio contact breaks off completely.

Has Rick Grimes arrived in the Commonwealth? If not, who else could it be?

Of course, the person that all viewers hope for the most is Rick Grimes. Until the middle of season 9, the character played by Andrew Lincoln was by far the most important character in the series. Until Rick was kidnapped by the Civic Republic Military and Jadis and was swallowed up by the earth. But if someone so important showed up again, Carol certainly wouldn’t have wasted time making small talk during her conversation with Daryl and would have immediately reported Rick’s arrival.

Michonne

Just as well as Rick, it could be Michonne, Rick’s partner who went looking for Rick after the Whisperer War. She was actually looking for weapons for the war against Alpha, but she found evidence that Rick is still alive. More specifically, a smartphone with a picture of Michonne and Judith carved on it, as well as a message in Japanese that means “Hope a little longer.” But even with Michonne’s return, Carol would have been a little more excited.

Morgan Jones

Another option that Carol probably wouldn’t be as freaked out about as Rick or Michonne is the return of Morgan Jones. In Season 8 of “The Walking Dead,” Morgan decided to strike out on his own after the war against the Saviors and ended up joining the main cast of the TWD spin-off “Fear the Walking Dead,” where he stayed from Season 4 to mid-Season 8 .

In the midseason finale of the last FTWD season, Morgan decided to seek out his old friend Rick again. So it’s very possible that Morgan started his search for Rick in Alexandria and ended up in the Commonwealth.

Dwight (and Sherry)

Carol would probably be far less happy about the return of Dwight and Sherry. Dwight was banished from Alexandria by Daryl after the war against the Saviors and, like Morgan, ended up in the TWD spin-off “Fear the Walking Dead”, where he reunites with his wife Sherry. However, we know from the trailer for the final episodes of FTWD that Dwight and Sherry go to their old house in the Sanctuary. This could also be how they meet Carol and the Commonwealth.

If Daryl doesn’t miraculously make contact with Carol in the Commonwealth in the finale of “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon”, it’s unlikely that we’ll find out who has returned before Season 2 of the TWD spin-off is. With a bit of luck, the series creators might even give us a look at the Commonwealth in a post-credit scene.

The grand finale of “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon” will air on October 15, 2023 in the US on AMC and AMC+. With a trick you can see “Daryl Dixon” in Germany at the same time. The German premiere of “The Walking Dead: Dead City” will take place on October 13, 2023 on MagentaTV.
