The Walking Dead – Daryl Dixon: So late?! Start date for season 2 disappoints fans

• “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon” has been renewed for a second season in summer 2023.

“The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon” reinvented “The Walking Dead” and took the big step of setting the spin-off series in Europe. And it paid off, because “Daryl Dixon” was a huge success. Luckily, because the series was renewed for a second season by US broadcaster AMC even before the premiere of the first season. It will be called “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol” because Melissa McBride will return to the role of Carol Peletier.

Daryl Dixon actor Norman Reedus had announced that the second season of “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon” would start in summer 2024. Since summer has now begun, fans were waiting impatiently for a concrete date and a first trailer, but now disillusionment has followed.

AMC has now confirmed the start of “Daryl Dixon” season 2 for September 29, 2024, so the new episodes will slip into the fall and we will have to wait longer than expected for Carol’s return.

The Walking Dead – Daryl Dixon: Trailer for Season 2

In a new sneak peek clip that aired during the series premiere of “Parish” on AMC, we see Carol in her element. She travels on Daryl’s motorcycle to the place in Maine where Daryl was last working and was eventually kidnapped. When she sees that the men have Daryl’s crossbow, she decides to settle the matter the Carol way: She takes the crossbow, points it at the men and demands to know where her friend is.

At the end of season 1, we already got a first look at season 2 of “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon”. In the teaser, we see Carol in Maine hunting for Daryl Dixon’s kidnappers.

This is what happened in the finale of season 1

In the finale of season 1, there was a tough showdown in a fighting arena owned by Madame Genet, where Daryl had to fight against super zombies. With the help of the Union de l’espoir, he and Quinn were able to escape, but unfortunately Daryl discovered that Quinn had been bitten.

Ultimately, Quinn realizes that he can only help the others if he fights the Pouvoir with his last remaining strength and thus buys the others time. At the same time, Isabelle and Laurent are able to escape because Isabelle cleverly steals their guardian’s keys.

Isabelle reveals to Daryl in a private conversation that she lied to him a little. The picture that Laurent supposedly painted of Daryl before Daryl’s arrival was actually only painted after Isabelle discovered Daryl. She just wanted to convince Daryl to help them. As they flee, they are caught by Codron and his men. One of them injures Isabelle on the shoulder.

At the last second, Cordron decides not to take revenge for his brother’s death and instead shoots the Guerriers. Codron later tells Madame Genet that he is the only survivor of the attack by Daryl and Co., but she does not believe him. He admits that he could not kill Laurent. Genet wants to torture him for information about where the Union nest is.

Daryl Dixon, Isabelle, Laurent and Sylvie reach the nest in Mont-Saint-Michel in Normandy, the headquarters of the Union de l’espoir. There, everyone lives together in harmony and Daryl immediately gets involved in the community and gives a shooting lesson to the members so that they are prepared for the attack by Genet’s men.

The Buddhist monk Losang is the leader of the Union. He promises Daryl that he can first take him to England with a fisherman, where he can then travel with other boats to Newfoundland, but from there Daryl has to find his own way home. Daryl accepts the offer. He hastily “says goodbye” to Isabelle and leaves a Rubik’s Cube for the sleeping Laurent. On his way to the beach where the boat is supposed to pick him up, he discovers graves from the Second World War and even that of his grandfather.

He spots the boat on the sea and wants to draw its attention, but instead he attracts some zombies that he has to fight. Laurent appears out of nowhere and calls for Daryl. Daryl hesitates, but everything indicates that he will go back to Laurent.

Then a small teaser for the second season of “Daryl Dixon” starts. Carol Peletier travels through Maine looking for clues as to what happened to her friend Daryl. She spots a dubious man on Daryl’s motorcycle, knocks him down and puts him in the trunk of her car, and coaxes him to give clues as to Daryl’s last whereabouts.

It is now known that Carol (McBride) actually finds a way to travel to France. At the New York Comic-Con 2023, it was revealed that Carol will play a leading role in season 2. Daryl and Carol could both travel back to the Commonwealth together in the second season. But first, Daryl has to fight Genet’s troops, who are making their way to the nest.

What is certain is that Norman Reedus will once again take on the title role of Daryl Dixon. Melissa McBride will once again play the role of Carol Peletier. Clémence Poésy will also most likely return as Sister Isabelle, Louis Puech Scigliuzzi as Laurent and Laika Blanc-Francard as Sister Sylvie. Romain Levi could also return as Stéphane Codron.

Newly confirmed is “The Resident” actor Manish Dayal. He will play the role of Ash, an engineer from Boston who has been living in his family’s vacation home in Maine since the outbreak of the apocalypse. Ash has a strict daily routine that consists of flying his modified single-engine plane every day and visiting the mysterious greenhouse in his garden (via Deadline).

Since he lives in Maine, it stands to reason that Carol will encounter him during her search for Daryl and his plane may also play a role in her trip to France.

Showrunner for season 2 of “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon” is again David Zabel. Executive producers include TWD content chief Scott M. Gimple, comic book writer Robert Kirkman, as well as David Alpert, Angela Kang, Brian Bockrath, Jason Richman, Daniel Percival, Greg Nicotero, Norman Reedus and David Zabel. Filming will take place in Paris.
