The Walking Dead Last Mile showcases its collective gaming experience at IGN Expo


Do you know the MILE? No, not the unit of measurement, but the Massively Interactive Live Events, namely the possibility of delivering large-scale narrative and interactive content, thanks to cloud technology, and possibly being able to monetize it. Well, this format has become the specialty of the New York studio Genvid which formalized during the IGN Expo, with the support of Skybound and Facebook, the return of The Walking Dead in the form of a narrative game. With a graphic touch close to Telltale games, which is not surprising given the history between the publisher Skybound and the studio closed in 2018.

But for once, last mile will not be a single-player experience, but will take place entirely live and online, on Facebook Gaming and Facebook Watch. Players will thus be able to follow the setbacks of a community of survivors in Alaska in the universe of the famous comics, and will have to influence the course of events, by spending “influence points” at the time of Cornelian choices. Where things get a little darker is that this participation can either be done in the form of a mini-game or QTE to be completed, or by buying these influence points via micro-transactions. What arouse some apprehension about the turn of this kind of show, especially since these choices remain very vague on their nature and their gameplay.

Difficult to know more for the moment, except that the show will start very soon, at the beginning of July.
