The shooting of the final episodes of “The Walking Dead” has been delayed. Norman Reedus suffered a concussion on set.

The long-running horror series The Walking Dead is on its last legs. For the final eleventh season, fan favorite Norman Reedus (53) gives everything again – and apparently injured himself on the set of the AMC series. Like “People” by a spokesman for the US broadcaster is said to have been confirmed, Reedus suffered a concussion while filming.

The fans don’t have to worry about the Daryl Dixon actor: “He’s recovering well and will return to work soon,” the spokesman is quoted as saying. His failure will therefore not have a major impact on “The Walking Dead”, the completion of the last filming will only be delayed “by a few days”. The report does not say exactly how the injury occurred.

Be there from day one

Reedus is one of the few cast members to have been with the show since season one, which premiered in 2010. Unlike most other characters, his is not based on the comic of the same name, but was invented in the series adaptation and quickly became a fan favorite.

The last season of “The Walking Dead” was split into three parts with 24 episodes due to excessive length. The first eight episodes were released on Disney+ in 2021, part two started in February and the series should also end this year.

No end to the zombie apocalypse in sight

The zombie fans don’t have to say goodbye to the “Walking Dead” universe entirely – and neither does Daryl. He will continue to hunt the undead in his own offshoot alongside Carol (Melissa McBride, 56). With “Isle Of The Dead”, a mini-series with Maggie (Lauren Cohan, 40) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan, 55) was also recently announced.

And then there are still several “Walking Dead” films planned with the former series lead Andrew Lincoln (48) as Rick Grimes. In short: Despite the end of the original series, the “Walking Dead” zombies cannot be killed for the time being.
