An episode of the anthology series “Tales of the Walking Dead” dedicated to Alpha revealed the true origin of the Whisperers!
We thought we knew everything about Alpha, the leader of the Whisperers, considered one of the most iconic villains of The Walking Dead series. An episode turned to his past had in particular made it possible to explore the origins of the character, and more particularly his shift towards murderous madness during the outbreak of the epidemic.
But the anthology series Tales of the Walking Dead has made it possible to learn a little more about Alpha, and in particular to learn that it was not the latter who founded the clan of the Whisperers – these psychopaths wearing masks of human skins to blend in with the mass of prowlers – but a certain Hera, appearing at the end of the episode at the head of a clan joined by Dee (Alpha’s real name) and her daughter Lydia.
“This is the origin of the Whisperers. They welcome Dee and Lydia into their ranks, and the camp of the Whisperers we see is different from the one later led by Alpha. Their community is very different, and shows more humanity than that led by Alpha” commented the showrunner of the series Channing Powell, during an interview granted to our colleagues fromEntertainment Weekly.
The episode ends with the vision of the two characters wearing skin masks, walking in the middle of the pack, and with this short exchange with Hera, concluded with the line: “Don’t speak. Whisper”.
A major revelation therefore, which opens the door to future episodes to explain to us who this Hera was, and under what conditions Alpha took the lead of the Whisperers?
