The hype about darts is unchecked. Now the comedy series “Die Wespe” is dedicated to sport, which has long since ceased to be practiced in bars.

From December 15, 2021 to January 3, 2022, the best in the world will once again compete at the Darts World Championship in London’s Alexandra Palace. The fans of the fast arrows can now get in the mood with a German series: “Die Wespe” will be broadcast in double episodes on Sky One every Friday from 8:15 pm from December 3rd and is available in double episodes on the Sky Ticket streaming service and via Sky Q. ready. The six-part comedy format pays homage to the special sport with the underdog story about Eddie “The Wasp” Frotzke.

“The Wasp”: That’s what it’s about

Dart pro Eddie (Florian Lukas, 48) is in crisis. The arrows don’t want to go that way anymore and foster son Kevin (Leonard Scheicher, 29) even overtakes him in the German rankings. He prefers to hang out in darts bars in Charlottenburg. Eddie’s manager and wife Manu (Lisa Wagner, 42) loses patience with her husband, who lets go, and begins an affair. When his foster son humiliates him at a tournament, Eddie finally sees red. A wild chase ensues, darts fly through the air and Eddie is banned from playing for life.

Eddie, always dressed in tracksuits, has reached the bottom. He has to stay afloat with a sales representative job and lives in the arbor of his best friend Nobbe “Nobbenator” Zosch (Ulrich Noethen, 62), who is also a former dart professional with alcohol problems. Eddie does not want to give up his former career and begins to train in order to sting again as “the wasp”. Before he succeeds, however, he will have to accept a few setbacks.
