The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp at the creator of Euphoria! Discover the trailer

Sam Levinson, the creator of “Euphoria”, and singer The Weekend join forces for “The Idol”, a sulphurous new series on the world of music and its excesses. Check out the scorching trailer.

It’s a series that is already making a lot of noise. After his obsession with the setbacks of a gang of teenagers in Euphoria, director and creator Sam Levinson immerses himself in the madness of Hollywood. With The Idol, he tells the chaotic relationship between the guru of a cult and Jocelyn, a young pop star on the rise. On the program: music – necessarily -, prohibitions and controversies that are already pointing the tip of their nose.

At the origin of the project, we find a real pop star, the Canadian The Weeknd. After a short appearance in the film Uncut Gems, he embodies here a leading role, that of the mysterious guru. He replies to Lily-Rose Depp in the guise of the singer.

The very first images, unveiled during a concert by the interpreter of Blinding Lights in New York, are faithful to the polished and outrageous aesthetics of Sam Levinson. No doubt fans ofEuphoria will find their account there.

Recently, the fiction has made headlines in the American specialized press for its production problems. A “change of artistic direction” would have been the source of several departures from the side of the team and a series of reshoots – Anglo-Saxon term to designate the need to return scenes. According to some sources, as IndieWirethe singer The Weeknd criticized the series for its too feminine point of view.

No official release date has yet been announced, only a mysterious “coming soon”. In France, it is still too early to say if the series will be available on OCS – as is often the case for HBO programs.

The Idolout soon.
