The Weeknd is working with the creator of “Euphoria” on its own HBO series about a cult. He should play along.

The Weeknd (31) is developing a new series for HBO. As reported by “Variety”, the singer writes the material together with the creator of “Euphoria”. The Weeknd is also said to play a role in the series.

Working title: “The Idol”

The series is currently called “The Idol”. It will be about a pop singer who begins a relationship with an enigmatic club owner who is the leader of a secret cult.

The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, is working on the show with its creative producer Reza Fahim and director and screenwriter Sam Levinson, 36. Levinson is best known for his hit series “Euphoria” with actress Zendaya (24), which appeared in 2019. All three are considered to be the show’s creators.

It’s not The Weeknd’s first foray into television. He wrote and starred in an episode of the animated series “American Dad” in 2020. He also played himself in the critically acclaimed film “The Black Diamond” alongside Adam Sandler (54).
