“The White Lotus” and “The Flight Attendant”: HBO boss is open to a third season

• In May 2022, the final episode of season 2 “The Flight Attendant” ran on HBO Max. The season is scheduled to start on Amazon Prime Video in summer or autumn 2022.
• “The White Lotus” also gets a second season. Production work on the sequel is now almost complete.
• HBO and HBO Max boss Casey Bloys was now enthusiastic about further sequels for both series.

Both “The Flight Attendant” and “The White Lotus” were actually only designed for one season. However, both series were given a second season by the US pay-TV broadcaster HBO due to their success. Now HBO boss Casey Bloys spoke in an interview about what the future of the series looks like in his opinion.

While the filming and production of the second season of “The White Lotus” is just being completed, the finale of “The Flight Attendant” season 2 was broadcast on HBO Max in May 2022. As a result of the recently published Emmy nominations, in which both series scooped up several nominations, HBO boss Casey Bloys is now very confident about the future of HBO productions.

In an interview with the US online magazine Deadline, he said that if it were up to him alone, there would be a third season for both “The White Lotus” and “The Fight Attendant”. Here, however, he leaves the decision entirely to the series makers and the rest of the creative team behind the successful series.

For the fans, this sounds like good news, but at least the main actress of “The Fight Attendant”, Kaley Cuoco, was rather hesitant and in an interview initially rejected an early sequel in a third season. The actress wants to concentrate on other projects in the near future.

It is not yet known whether the cast and series creators of “The White Lotus” share Cuoco’s mentality and prefer a break after the second season. Maybe the numerous Emmy nominations will inspire Cuoco to rethink and we can still look forward to a sequel to the comedy-espionage thriller.
