In the United States, the winner of a cooking show has been convicted of homicide of the 3-year-old girl she was about to adopt.
A crime beyond comprehension. This Thursday, May 12, a jury in Greenville, South Carolina, found Ariel Robinson, candidate for the show “Worst Cooks in America”, guilty of homicide on the little girl she was about to adopt. “In 13 to 14 years of experience as a judge, I have never seen such a thing. Nothing that comes close“¸commented Judge Letitia Verdin when the verdict was announced.
Victoria “Tori” Rose Smith, 3, died on January 14, 2021 from the beating of her adoptive mother, who her husband, Austin Robinson, alleged hit her with a leather belt for not eating her pancakes pretty quickly. Greenvill County Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Michael Ward said the girl was beaten so badly that her blood vessels burst. Blood would then have rushed into his muscles and fat, as a result of which his heart would have stopped pumping blood to the brain. “If we lose enough blood, the heart does not have enough volume to pump“¸explained the coroner. Called to the bar, Sergeant Scott Magaw, of the Simpsonville Police Department, indicated that the body of little Victoria presented numerous bruises during his intervention.
She had custody for 10 months
Ariel Robinson, 30, faces life imprisonment. Her husband, who pleaded guilty to “complicity in homicide by mistreatment” last month, faces between 10 and 20 years in prison. A relief for the biological family of little Victoria, who collapsed when the verdict was announced. “Thank God”, launched the little girl’s biological great-grandmother, Vickie Phares. Justice has been served for our baby.” Biological parents of two sons, Ariel and Austin Robinson had custody of Victoria for 10 months and were due to adopt her the week after her death.
