The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the launch of the PS5 and Xbox Series X and S versions postponed until further notice

License The Witcher has a bright future ahead of it, with on the one hand a third season adapting the adventures of Geralt in live action on netflix and on the other a fourth major episode under Unreal Engine 5which will mark the beginning of a new saga featuring theLynx school. However, CD Project have not finished with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Indeed, after Cyberpunk 2077, it is this game which must benefit from version PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Except that the studio had postponed the release on next-generation consoles to the 2nd quarter of 2022, between the beginning of April and the end of June. Don’t wait any longer Witcher for this period, because the studio has just announced at the turn of of them tweet that the release is postponed indefinitely.

We have decided to hand over the remaining work on the next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to our in-house development team. We are currently assessing the scope of the work to be done and therefore have to postpone the Q2 release until further notice. We will let you know as soon as possible. Thank you for understanding.

But why such a change disrupting the plans of CD Project ? Well, these versions next gen from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt have so far been developed by Saber Interactive. The group notably has a studio in Saint-Petersburg in Russia with a huge workforce, which apparently had the leader on the game. CD Project being based in Poland and having already stopped its sales in Russia since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, it is therefore not surprising that it prefers to pursue development on its own, although this is to a certain sorry way. This explanation is not yet official, but fits perfectly with a rumor which ran at the end of March about the game and which therefore turns out today…

In short, you will have to be patient, or simply play the game as it is now. Moreover, it is sold 10 € in promotion at GOG in its edition GOTY on PC.
