The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2077 are moving forward, it’s official!

It was in an official video published on the Polish Youtube channel CD Projekt IR this Thursday, May 26, 2022 that the news fell: the future of The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2077 is not sealed and would be in good hands. Piotr Nielubowicz, the company’s finance manager, talks about the two licenses and even gives news about the progress of the projects in development for both!

Cyberpunk 2077: The main objective of CD Projekt

According to the comment offered in the aforementioned video, the financial results of the Polish firm during the first quarter of the year 2022 would have been largely influenced by the deployment of the important so-called “next generation” update of Cyberpunk 2077. to bring a vast amount of new content, this major patch has indeed also drastically changed the way of approaching the one that would have initially disappointed many players. This will also have cost the reputation of the company dearly when the game was released in December 2020, but opinions will subsequently have softened to finally be (probably) rather satisfied with the game as it is currently.

However, CD Projekt is not done with Cyberpunk 2077, and that is what it is about in the video that we mentioned at the beginning of the article. A new update supposed to bring further improvements to the game is currently in development! Excellent news that will delight fans of the license, and yet it is not the only one.

This conference will indeed have also made it possible to learn that the majority of developers dedicated to Cyberpunk 2077 are currently working mainly on the very first expansion of the game, a DLC what! Well, the news does not seem incredible said like that since we already knew that such an update was planned, but it is now official! Thus, CD Projekt officially announces that the deployment of this extension would be planned for “next year”, understand here 2023.

In the same vein, it is also interesting to note that some dataminers would have discovered certain supposed elements of the next DLC of the game, especially a hundred new lines of dialogue. They would also have discovered new missions as well as the place where all this new story would take place… To be taken with a grain of salt while waiting for the official announcement of course!

The Witcher 4: Slowly but surely!

The other major element of this first part of 2022 will of course have been, for CD Projekt Red at least, the announcement of a “new The Witcher saga” last March. Still in the same video, we learn that the development of this supposed “The Witcher 4” would continue and would even have passed the “research phase”. This concretely means that the game is now in the pre-production phase, and therefore that the first real internal tests concerning this new opus will soon take place in order to test the feasibility of the developers’ ambitions regarding it, but also its cost, both financial and in terms of working time.

The Witcher 4

So good, let’s keep a cool head: the pre-production phase is only the real beginning of the creation of a video game. We are thus still far from seeing concrete images of the final version of this new The Witcher. However, if CD Projekt’s finance manager announces such news, it’s because things are moving forward and that’s very good news. Let’s just keep in mind that we probably won’t see the color of it for a while!

Piotr Nielubowicz also recalls that this fourth installment will use the technology offered by Unreal Engine 5 thanks to a partnership established with Epic Games, of which we recently had a few small demonstrations. Again, it’s a bit far-fetched and we’re probably far from the result that we can expect from a game running under this graphics engine, but all the same, it leaves you dreaming!

Leaks of Cyberpunk 2077’s next DLC have gone around the networks and set the web on fire! The latter reveal a whole new plot, which will feature new characters. Let’s find out all about it!
