The Witcher: a Matrix star joins the cast of the Netflix series

Laurence Fishburne will cross paths with the Witcher in season 4 of The Witcher. The American actor will play Regis, a key character from the books and video games on which the Netflix series is inspired, facing Geralt of Rivia now played by Liam Hemsworth (Hunger Games).

The character, who joins Geralt in the fourth season of the series, is a world-renowned barber-surgeon with a mysterious past. Laurence Fishburne will thus play the role of Liam Hemsworth, the new Geralt following the departure of Henry Cavill at the end of season 3.

“I am very excited to join the cast and can’t wait to explore the wonderful world of The Witcher,” Fishburne said according to Deadline.

After the shocking events that shook the Continent at the end of season 3 of The Witcher, Season 4 will continue the adventures of Geralt, Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) and Ciri (Freya Allan), as each makes their way across a Continent ravaged by war and its many demons. If they manage to integrate into the different groups they encounter, they may have a chance of surviving and, above all, finding each other.

Laurence Fishburne is known for having lent his features to the character of Morpheus in the saga Matrixbut the public also saw him playing King Bowery in the John Wick franchise, at DC as Perry White (Man of Steel, Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice) or even against Mads Mikkelsen in the series Hannibal.

The actor, three times Emmy Award winner and nominated for an Oscar for best actor for the film Tina in 1994, will soon appear in the feature film by Francis Ford Coppola, Megalopolis.
