With Henry Cavill, “The Witcher” already has a prominent cast. For the second season, even more international stars join the cast.

The Netflix series “The Witcher”, which is based on the Witcher saga by author Andrzej Sapkowski (72), is upgrading its second season properly. The cast around Henry Cavill (37) as the eponymous Geralt von Riva, Freya Allan (19, Ciri) and Anya Chalotra (24, Yennefer) is apparently growing by seven well-known stars, as “The Hollywood Reporter” claims to have exclusively found out. One of the newcomers is Adjoa Andoh (58), fans of the hyped series “Bridgerton” better known as Lady Danbury. She will therefore embody the character Nenneke.

And her “Bridgerton” colleague Chris Fulton is said to be on board as Rience. Character mime Graham McTavish, known among others from “Outlander” and “The Hobbit”, joins the cast according to the report – for him the role of Dijkstra should be planned. Meanwhile, “Downton Abbey” actor Kevin Doyle will play a character named Ba’lian specially invented for the series. The other three newcomers are Cassie Clare (“Brave New World”) as Philippa Eilhart, Liz Carr (“Silent Witness”) as Fenn and Simon Callow (“Four Weddings and One Death”) as Codringher.

This is the second extensive casting round for the new episodes of “The Witcher”. It was previously announced that “Game of Thrones” star Kristofer Hivju as well as Yasen Atour, Agnes Bjorn, Paul Bullion, Aisha Fabienne Ross and Mecia Simson will be there. So does the Swiss Basil Eidenbenz (“Athena”), who has been entrusted with the role of donkey, a long-time friend of the main character Geralt. The second season should be released in 2021.
