CD Project Red recently lifted the veil on the future of Cyberpunk 2077 with its next extension Phantom Libertybut it is to be expected that this new content will be the only major DLC for the game. After that, the majority of the team will certainly go to join the development of the next game The Witcher, already announced by the studio. And after the debacle Cyberpunk 2077at least on the side of the image, CD Projekt Red now seems keen to fully capitalize on The Witcher.
Until The Witcher 6?
We’re not going to pretend to be surprised, but CD Proket Red has confirmed that the next The Witcher is not the only game of the saga on which the studio leaned. As relayed by Eurogamer, Adam Kicinski clarified his remarks made during the studio’s previous financial report by stating:
” As the first saga was three games… we are in pre-production of the first game of the second Witcher saga. ยป
All this before confirming that the studio was thinking about more games after the one that is coming. We suspected it, of course, but it’s even clearer now. This new The Witcher will be the start of a new sagapotentially from a new trilogy, who knows.
The Witcher 3 next-gen is coming
And what about the PS5 and Xbox Series versions in all of this? These should arrive in the coming weeks, before the end of 2022, but the studio has not given any news about them. What to worry about a new postponement?
Not for the studio, who reaffirmed once again that these next-gen versions for The Witcher 3 were still scheduled for release in the fourth quarter.
Remember that these versions were postponed following the change of studio, with CD Projekt Red which recovered the project from the hands of Saber Interactive. We are now waiting for a more precise date.
