The second season of “The Witcher” has not even started when Netflix is already announcing the third round.

The second season of “The Witcher” has not even started when Netflix is already announcing the next round. Via Instagram the streaming service confirmed the third season. In addition, a second animated film and a children’s series from the “Witcher” universe will follow.

The second season of the successful fantasy series about the monster hunter Geralt von Rivia, played by Henry Cavill (38), starts on December 17th on Netflix. As early as the summer, the first rumors were circulating that the story of a third season was to be worked on.

The Witcher universe is expanding

After the animated film “The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf”, which only appeared on Netflix on August 23, another full-length animation offshoot in the anime style is to come.

More surprising is the announcement of a family-friendly series from the Witcher universe. It is not yet known whether this will be an animated series or a real-life film.

The series spin-off “The Witcher: Blood Origin”, which is supposed to shed light on the history of the hit series, is already in the works. There is no start date yet.

Fans criticize the announcement

The new projects are apparently less popular with fans of “The Witcher”. Especially the kids version of the dark fantasy saga hits many people. “Will someone take away their rights, please,” demands one fan. “They jumped the Shark,” comments another. In the USA, this phrase is used to describe the point at which a series has passed its zenith and is now desperately trying to turn things around with spectacular ideas.
