The Witcher: Netflix confirms that season 3 is in production


The world imagined by Andrzej Sapkowski has not finished growing, especially since CD Projekt recently confirmed the start of construction of the next great game The Witcher, to the delight of millions of fans. A game developed with the Unreal Engine 5 which will be directed by Jason Slama, so far in charge of Gwent: The Witcher Card Game, and which we only know is supposed to mark the start of a new saga.

Netflix is ​​not yet able to give a release date for season 3 of its adaptation, but the two previous ones were released in December 2019 and December 2021 respectively. The broadcaster shared the few lines of the synopsis of this new season, as well as a photo of Henry Cavill (Geralt), Anya Chalotra (Yennefer) and Freya Allan (Ciri) taken on the first day of production. We also know that the direction of the episodes of season 3 was entrusted to Stephen Surjik (Reacher, The Umbrella Academy), Gandja Monteiro (Brand New Cherry Flavor, The Chi), Loni Peristere (American Horror Story, The Disastrous Adventures of the Baudelaire Orphans) and Bola Ogun (How to Raise a Superhero, Lucifer).

As the continent’s monarchs, mages, and beasts vie to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri of Cintra underground, determined to protect her newly reunited family from those who threaten to destroy her. Charged with training Ciri in magic, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where she hopes to discover more of the girl’s untapped powers. Instead, they find they’ve landed on a battlefield rife with political corruption, dark magic, and betrayal. They must defend themselves, put everything on the line – or risk losing themselves forever.
