The Witcher season 3: the creator promises “a heroic end” for Henry Cavill

The creator of “The Witcher” reveals some elements of the plot of season 3 which will be the last with Henry Cavill in the skin of Geralt de Riv…

Henry Cavill surprised fans when he announced his departure from The Witcher. Such was the surprise that many thought the upcoming season wouldn’t feature a proper farewell to the actor who brought Geralt to life so well on the small screen.

But as ComingSoon reports, the upcoming third season should be as big a farewell to the actor as possible. In any case, said the showrunner and creator of the series, Lauren Schmidt Hissrich.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly in a recent interview, Hissrich mentioned that the third season feels like the “most heroic farewell” the team behind the show can give Henry Cavill.

Henry has given so much to the show and so we want to honor that appropriately.

THE PLOT OF SEASON 3

The creator then revealed some elements of the plot of the third season of Netflix’s flagship show.

We thus learn that the fourth book in the series of novels by Andrzej Sapkowski, entitled The Time of Contemptis the one that is partly adapted for this new season and that its plot would stick with what is happening with Henry Cavill according to the words of the showrunner.

What’s so interesting is that Season 3, to me, is the closest thing we’ve come as a one-to-one adaptation of the books. Obviously, we can’t do every page, but The Time of Scorn gave us so many great action events, plot points, defining character moments, huge reveals from a great villain. There’s so much to do that we were able to stick really, really closely with the books.

Hissrich also briefly talked about what Geralt will be up to in season three, noting that his biggest change is giving up his neutrality and getting in on the action. For the designer, that’s where the heroic farewell comes from, with Geralt now having a new mission in mind.

Geralt’s big turn is to give up neutrality and do whatever he has to do to get to Ciri. And to me, it’s the most heroic goodbye we could have, even if it wasn’t written for that. Geralt has a new mission in mind when we return to him in Season 4. He’s a slightly different Geralt than we expected. Now, by the way, that’s an understatement.

Season 3 of The Witcher should be released in 2023. In the meantime, the first two seasons can be seen or reviewed exclusively on Netflix.
