The Witcher: The remake of the first game will be in the open world

License The Witcher is more than ever at the heart of the strategy of CD Project Red, with several games in preparation including a remake of the first episode. The latter will be produced under the Unreal Engine 5 and should be based on the achievements of The Witcher 3 to reimagine this adventure. One could legitimately wonder if this required changing the structure of the game by adapting the RPG to the open world formula, and obviously, this will be the case.

Big change for the first episode

IGN relayed the studio’s latest financial statement in which we can clearly see CD Projekt Red stating that the remake of The Witcher will have an open world. The famous Project Canis Majoris is described as a ” single-player game and an open-world RPG “, which was not really the case of the first The Witcher when it was released in 2007.

We should therefore expect things to change greatly for this epic, with locations that should be larger than in the past. It remains to be seen the extent of this open world, which will drastically change the pace of the story and the way we approach the game. We could, for example, focus on more quests and more side effects, but it is still too early to think about it, since it is not tomorrow that this remake will arrive to us.
