Catherine Laborde finds it difficult to express herself

“It’s a very complicated disease, memory and balance are lacking, words no longer come, she loses the notion of space. Sometimes she is there and then suddenly she is somewhere else. She’s going to say one word instead of another.” explains the 70-year-old journalist. It’s hard to imagine the French’s favorite Miss Weather searching for words. But this is the sad fate of people with neurodegenerative diseases.

However, Françoise Laborde wants to reassure the public by explaining that the progression of her illness is slow. “The evolution is slow, so it’s rather reassuring, but She can’t be alone for a second. It’s impossible”, she explains. Before specifying that Catherine Laborde may have “panic attacks” And “can fall”.

François Laborde plans to spend a vacation with his sister this summer

In her interview with Jordan De Luxe, Françoise Laborde explains that her sister Catherine cannot stay alone. “Anything can happen to her, she’s not capable of it. She doesn’t go into the street much anymore, but when I call her by video, we chat, we talk, she’s happy”, specifies the journalist. The former presenter of the bulletin is therefore well surrounded.

“This summer, she’s going to go to the Gers for a bit, and I think the three of us are going to try to get together with our sister Geneviève,” assures Françoise Laborde. And when Jordan De Luxe asks if it would be possible to see her again on television soon, her sister responds bluntly: “She couldn’t… I don’t think so, it would really take a special situation, but having a sustained discussion is no longer possible…“.

Catherine Laborde lives on Île d’Yeu

Due to his state of health, François Laborde reveals to Jordan De Luxe that his sister lives quietly in the Island of Yeu. “She is as well as she can be. She lives on Île d’Yeu because it is quieter, she can go into the garden,” she explains.

Before adding: “She has a wonderful young woman who takes care of her, called Alexandra. Her husband Thomas is obviously very present too. And then her daughters Gabrielle and Pia take turns.”
