“The work environment was a bit hostile”: Charisma Carpenter and James Marsters recount the shootings of Buffy and Angel

The interpreters of Cordelia and Spike in the cult series “Buffy against the vampires” and “Angel” told their best memories of filming at AlloCiné. The duo also remembered the sometimes difficult working conditions…

The weekend of April 15 and 16, 2023 took place the Paris Fan Festival. During this event, which took place in our capital, the public rediscovered all the worlds of pop culture. From manga to Heroic Fantasy, via Star Wars and Super Heroes, the characters and their stories have come to life through exhibitions, shows, escape games, live artistic performances or even cosplay parades…

Spike and Cordelia in Paris

Among the guests of this event, two emblematic faces of the Buffy against the vampires saga made the trip: Charisma Carpenter and James Marsters. As a reminder, the first slipped into the skin of Cordelia, the plague of high school, and the second embodied Spike, one of the worst enemies of the Slayer (played by Sarah Michelle Gellar) originally.

With us, the actors remembered their experience in cult fiction, but also in Angel, its spin-off series. Charisma Carpenter, for example, revealed to us that she had not auditioned for the role of Cordelia at the start! James Marsters, meanwhile, explained to us that he was recruited at the last minute…

Nostalgia when you hold us…

Although having played in the same show, the actors told us that they did not know each other at all at the time! The reason ? James Marsters admits to having had a bad preconception about his partner…

Finally, Charisma Carpenter told us that even if acting on Buffy the Vampire Slayer was a wonderful professional opportunity, she and the other cast members felt a lot of pressure on set. The one who later joined the spin-off Angel even evokes a work environment “hostile“…

All of this and more can be seen in our video interview with Charisma Carpenter and James Marsters, viewable above.
