The Xbox Series 2 is the subject of many rumors, but we may have an idea of what form it will take. Obviously, we should expect something quite surprising.
The Xbox Series 2 (provisional name) raises a lot of questions within the community. Will Microsoft completely change its approach to consoles? Should we expect a big revolution? At the moment, it is difficult to say. We are mostly swimming in the realm of rumor. However, we have just received information about the machine which, if it proves true, could change everything. Even if it may surprise more than one person.
The Xbox Series 2, a portable console?
You will no doubt have understood that we are not dealing with an official statement from the American giant. This “news” comes to us from Middleagegameguy who spoke in the latest episode of the Xbox News Cast Podcast. According to him, the Xbox Series 2 is technically due out in 2026, and it will take two different forms. As with the X and S, there will be one proposition more expensive than the other. The more expensive offer obviously comes with several advantages.
The more expensive version will be a traditional console like the One or Xbox Series. Our man doesn’t really focus on it, and instead goes to tell us about the other machine. The latter would be portable, and could be docked like the Nintendo Switch. It would even support cloud gaming to run Xbox games natively. Well, it promises great things, but it should be taken with a pinch of salt. As is often the case, we don’t really have any proof of what is being said here.
A change of strategy for Microsoft?
That said, Microsoft could very well decide to make a radical change in strategy. To the point of moving to the portable console market for one of the versions of the Xbox Series 2? We will say that anything is possible when you keep an open mind. Let’s not forget that when it comes to cloud gaming, we already had information on this subject. Last year, the firm faced massive leaks which had rather severe consequences.
And precisely, among the leaks, we found emails and documents belonging to the company. In the package, a roadmap on the development of the Xbox Series 2. Obviously, priority was going to be given to cloud gaming and the creation of games designed around this technology.
