The Xiaomi 12S Ultra is presented as a formidable photophonearmored with technologies and work of expertise of Leica.

Xiaomi today launched its new series of smartphones, the Xiaomi 12S, 12S Pro and 12S Ultra, for the Chinese market. The brand puts a strong emphasis on photography with these new models.

An ultra premium technical sheet

The manufacturer highlights its partnership with the expert Leica for the design of the camera of the Xiaomi 12S Ultra. The pearl of the device is the 50.3 MP Sony IMX989 main sensor, which stands out on several levels. It benefits from an aspherical lens for better image quality on the edges of shots and measures one inch to capture more detail and light. It defaults to 12.5MP photos with pixel blending to further improve results in low light environments. There is also a 48 MP Sony IMX586 ultra-wide-angle module and a 48 MP telephoto lens.

For the rest, the smartphone is equipped with a 6.73-inch AMOLED LTPO screen displaying a QHD + definition, benefiting from an adaptive refresh rate up to 120 Hz, supporting Dolby Vision and HDR10 +, and supporting 10-bit color depth.

The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC is paired with 8 or 12 GB of RAM and 256 or 512 GB of storage space. Autonomy is entrusted to a 4,860 mAh battery with 67 W wired charging, 50 W induction charging and 10 W reverse wireless charging.

Supersonic charging on the Xiaomi 12 Pro

For smaller budgets, the Xiaomi 12S and Xiaomi 12S Pro have a less high-end Sony IMX707 main photo sensor, but retain Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip, engraved in 4nm.

The 4,500 mAh battery of the Xiaomi 12S benefits from the same charging capacities as that of the Ultra model, but without reverse wireless charging. The Xiaomi 12S Pro is very strong with a power of up to 120 W wired, enough to quickly recharge its 4,600 mAh battery.

The Xiaomi 12S Pro has the same panel as the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, while the standard Xiaomi 12S plays the compactness card with a 6.28-inch screen. It loses 1440p in favor of 1080p and Dolby Vision, but has HDR10+, adaptive refresh rate up to 120Hz and P3 color gamut coverage.

We are now awaiting information on possible availability in Europe.
