The Xiaomi 13 Ultra is unveiled, it will become the new king of photography on smartphones

While we will have to wait many more weeks before seeing the Xiaomi 13 Ultra hit the market, we already know a little more about the photo configuration of the best smartphone from the Chinese manufacturer.

Xiaomi really shook up the smartphone market a few weeks ago when it unveiled its new high-end Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro smartphones, but these didn’t come with any Ultra models. As usual, the Chinese manufacturer will present the latter a little later, but we already know more about it.

On Twitter, the famous leaker Ice Universe has already revealed what we can expect for the photo part of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra. The latter will unsurprisingly be designed in partnership with Leica, like the Xiaomi 12S Ultra before it, but the new model promises to use next-generation sensors.

The Xiaomi 13 Ultra is entitled to 4 photosensors of 50 MP

To everyone’s surprise, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra will benefit froman amazing photo setup with 4 cameras of 50 MP each. We first find the gigantic 1-inch IMX989, launched on the Xiaomi 12S Ultra last year. It has since arrived on the Xiaomi 13 Pro, the Vivo X90 Pro+ and will soon equip the OPPO Find X6 Pro.

However, this IMX989 of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra would have a big advantage over the others. He would offer a variable aperturewhich will allow it to be even more versatile. Xiaomi will also use a 2G (glass) + 6P (plastic) layout for the lenses, a first in the smartphone market. This should allow it to gather more light than its competitors.

The main sensor will be accompanied by three new IMX858 cameras, whose exact specifications are still unknown. These will serve asultra wide-angle (0.6x), telephoto (3x) as well as periscope (5x). It is hoped that the telephoto lens will also be equipped with a floating Leica lens to allow it to capture macro shots, as we saw on the Xiaomi 13 Pro.

The Xiaomi 13 Ultra therefore promises to offer 2023’s most versatile photo setup, without using the largest sensors. This privilege will go to the OPPO Find X6 Pro, which will be equipped with three huge sensors.
