Building on the success of the Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold and faced with the growing interest of the general public for foldable smartphones, the Chinese brand is preparing a second model.
The Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 would be at an advanced stage and could even see the light of day very soon, according to a serious source.
A Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 soon?
A new smartphone is coming. While Google is talking about its Pixel Fold (which would be called Pixel NotePad) every month, the Mountain View company is not the only one wanting to enter the market. Others have already tried it, with more or less success, and intend to try to compete with Samsung, the undisputed leader in the sector. This is the case of Xiaomi, which is preparing a second version of the Mi MIX Fold, its innovative smartphone released last year without ever leaving China.
Digital Chat Station (via Gizmochina), a very reputable leaker on the territory, has been saying for several weeks that a Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold 2 would be in the boxes. It could finally arrive sooner than we thought. According to him, the launch of this new foldable smartphone would only be a matter of months away, and it should be released in the second quarter of 2022, with a release scheduled between April and June.
First specs unveiled
Also according to this same source, this Mi MIX Fold 2 would adopt an inward folding design, like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. The internal screen should measure between 8.01 and 8.1 inches, the sources do not agree on it, with a 2K resolution in the key. It would rest on an ultra-thin glass (UTG) which equips many foldable smartphones. Other rumors also mention the use of an LTPO screen instead of OLED. A new technology present on the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra which allows the refresh rate to be varied dynamically by adapting to the content displayed.
On the processor side, the foldable smartphone would opt for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, one of the most powerful chips on the market which also equips its Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro. Question battery, it is rumored that the Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold 2 would have a larger capacity than its elder, which is 5,020 mAh. However, no figures were given. Same story on the side of the fast charge, which would go even faster than that of 67 W of the first model. In addition to the MIX Fold 2, Xiaomi would also consider marketing a MIX Flip, to try to walk on the flowerbeds of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip.
