The Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 arrive on October 27 with a curved screen, a first for the series

Xiaomi has started to talk about the different technical characteristics of its next Redmi Note 12 on social networks, and we now know thanks to a photo that at least one of the models will have a curved screen.

Just after confirming the arrival of fast charging at 210 W, a first in the industry, Xiaomi has unveiled the date of the official presentation of its next Redmi Note 12. The whole series should be unveiled in China during a conference to be held on October 27.. It should include four different smartphones, the Redmi Note 12, the Redmi Note 12 Pro, the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ as well as a Redmi Note 12 Extreme Edition.

For now, we do not know the exact differences between the different models of Redmi Note 12, but at least one of the models should use the new Dimensity 1080 chip from MediaTek. The latter promises to be quite powerful, since it would allowreach the performance of a Snapdragon 778+which is usually reserved for more expensive models.

The Redmi Note 12 should offer a curved screen

In addition to confirming the launch date, Xiaomi has released another image that shows off the various smartphones in the series in dim light. If their design is not completely visible, we note however that the screen of at least one of the models will be curved. This is therefore a rather unusual feature for such affordable smartphones, which generally only use flat screens.

This curved screen will obviously be OLED with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, and we imagine that Xiaomi will keep the 6.67-inch diagonal of the previous generation. As curved screens are much more expensive than flat screens, we imagine that only the most expensive model will be entitled to it.

One of the other interesting new features of the Redmi Note 12 could be on the back of the devices. A model should use the new Samsung HPX 200 MP photo sensor, a modified version of the HP3 sensor. The latter is smaller than the Xiaomi 12T Pro’s HP1 sensor, so you shouldn’t expect identical performance. Low-light photos might be slightly less impressive, especially because of its 1/1.4-inch format and small photosites of just 0.56 µm.
