TF1 broadcasts episodes of “The Fires of Love” recorded in 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic. Strict barrier measures had been imposed on the set, but Bryton James and Brytni Sarpi continued to be intimate on screen. For what?
Currently in the episodes of Les Feu de l’amour offered on TF1 (the series is soon celebrating its 50th anniversary), many viewers have noticed that the inhabitants of Genoa City keep physically far from each other. Usually so demonstrative, the couples of the cult American soap opera no longer share long moments of outpouring of their feelings… But for what reason?
Filming during the pandemic
The explanation is in fact very simple: at the time of the filming of these components in 2020 (a three-year gap exists between the distribution in France and that of the USA), the world was in the midst of a Covid-19 pandemic. On the sets of the cult soap opera, hygiene rules and strict barrier measures had therefore been put in place.
It was indeed essential to avoid a possible spread of the virus among the technicians or the cast because a contagion would have inevitably led to a stoppage of production for a few weeks… Thus, our heroes were notably deprived of sex scenes!
However, only one couple of fictional characters continues to cuddle, kiss and experience moments of intimacy in The Young and the Restless on the front page. They are Devon and Elena, respectively played by Bryton James and Brytni Sarpy. And again, the explanation for this exception is very simple…

The duo of actors is a real couple in the city! Living in close contact on a daily basis, in the context of their private life outside their workplace, the main interested parties had agreed to continue to display all the affection that Elena and Devon carried on the screen.
French fans have also spotted another consequence of the Covid-19 pandemic on The Young and the Restless (of which Love, Glory and Beauty is the spin-off series and in which Brooke and Tayor have a very ambiguous relationship!). The latter noted that Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki) wore a wig at the time of the resumption of filming, in order to avoid a false hair connection with his sequences recorded before confinement…
