An actor dad, an actress mom, Oumy Bruni Garrel has it in his blood. The daughter of Louis Garrel and Valeria Bruni Tedeschi is taking her first steps soon.
Oumy Bruni Garrel is well surrounded. On one side, her mother Valeria Bruni Tedeschi, 58, a Franco-Italian actress who distinguished herself in The divide in 2021 alongside Marina Foïs and Pio Marmaï, and whose latest production, The Almond Treeswas critically acclaimed in 2022. On the other side, his father Louis Garrel, 39, director of The crusade in 2021 with his partner Laetitia Casta, and The Innocent in 2022, who interpreted Godard in The Redoubtable in 2017 and who will soon be Louis XIII in the two films The three Musketeers.
The actor couple met in 2002 on the set of Carla Bruni’s sister’s film, The actresses. They lived together from 2007 to 2012. In 2009, they adopted Oumythen four months old, in Senegal. The 14 year old girl today follows in the footsteps of his two parents by making a grand entrance into the world of cinema.

Oumy Garrel: a promising young actress
In Summer visitors in 2018, she had filmed with her mother, director of the film, as well as her grandmother. Then three years later, she had appeared in her father’s film, The crusadein a scene that she herself improvised.
Now it’s a main role that she takes on in Neneh Superstar, directed by Ramzi Ben Sliman. She plays a young black dancer who enters the ballet school of the Paris Opera. In theaters next January 25, the film brings together a fine cast: Maïwenn as a school principal skeptical of Neneh’s talent, or even Aïssa Maïga and Steve Tientcheu in the role of the teenager’s parents.
