The Fitbic Ionic already recalled for risk of burns and fire
Last March, Google was forced to recall its Fitbit Ionic watches. A major recall initiated by the report of an agency based in the United States (CPSC) in charge of preventing and protecting the general public from the risk of injury inflicted by certain models. In total, Google had received just under 200 reports, before recalling more than 1.7 million watches.
Google then expressly asked holders of a Fitbit Ionic watch to no longer use it, and invited customers to request a refund for their product.
Today, a new lawsuit argues that the recall was not enough, and it aims to show that all Fitbit products are actually likely to cause burns to their owners.
All Fitbit products would be problematic
According to court documents, Fitbit watches and trackers have the same flaw, which is a tendency to overheat, leading to burns and fire hazards. The new lawsuit also points to the fact that Fitbit has often wrongfully blamed user hygiene when reporting incidents in its own defense.
” Customers buy Fitbit products to burn calories, not their skin, but also to safely lead a healthy lifestyle using a smartwatch “says the complaint. The latter is to be put at the origin of two new complainants, who were “victims” of the Fitbit Versa Lite and Versa 2.
Fitbit’s customer service would also be ” very slow » for several weeks, some customers have not been able to obtain the refund, however promised, of their Ionic watch. To be continued…
