We must therefore wait two more months before discovering the approach of this sequel announced as a musical film… but which ultimately would not really be. “There is music, but it’s not a musical film strictly speaking but… there’s just music in it”declared cinematographer Lawrence Sher during a online masterclass.

To be or not to be musical?
Beyond the fact that Lawrence Sher sometimes does not seem certain of what he is saying (even though he actively participated in the filming and the photos on a black background or on the roof look very musical), these words will not fail to raise questions. Is Joker: Folie à Deux trying to hide its nature as a musical film (like Wonka, Mean Girls or Wicked), so as not to cut itself off from a part of the public, allergic to all forms of song?
Or has Todd Phillips somewhat revised his initial plans, even though it was always announced that this sequel would be musical, making the arrival of Lady Gaga in the cast all the more logical? First elements of the answer, we hope, in the trailer. So in mid-April.
