“There is no end to Kaamelott” according to Alexandre Astier

During a digital meeting with fans of “Kaamelott” organized by Fnac, Alexandre Astier notably returned to the evolution of the world he had created.

Like George Lucas’ galaxy far, far away – which quickly broke away from its original saga to offer its fans Star Wars series, novels, comics of all kinds – the world of Kaamelott created by Alexandre Astier would it also have become an extended universe?

According to the filmmaker and interpreter of King Arthur, this is the case!

Indeed, as Astier explained to his fans duringa digital meeting organized by Fnac last December, “Kaamelott, anyway, it’s no longer a film, it’s no longer a series, for a long time.”

“It’s called an extended world, an extended universe”continues the director. “So, yes, there is the saga that unfolds, and then there are things that are told differently, like in the comics. But in principle, there is no limit to the stories told in the world. of Kaamelott. There are some for generations, without any problem, since it’s not a story, it’s a world.”

A world that Alexandre Astier, a fan of role-playing games, readily compares to that of heroic fantasy, and in which the possibilities are therefore endless:

“It can happen stories of all colors”he explains. “You can have adventure, romances, violent things, action, things that happen in a pocket handkerchief, behind closed doors in a tavern, or that cross a thousand miles between the sea, the snow , the mountain… You can have it all. So there is no end to Kaamelott. There is an end to this main saga, in the third installment.”

Alexandre Astier therefore makes a clear distinction between his “main saga” (which began on television and whose First Part was released in theaters last summer) and the rest of the Kaamelott universe, with which he will therefore have the possibility to continue having fun long after the end of his trilogy.
