Do you have an Android smartphone and an Xbox at home? So you can combine the two during your movie nights in front of the console!
You can now turn on your Xbox and turn your smartphone into a real remote control.
Multimedia at the heart of game consoles
Nowadays, and have been for several years now, game consoles are no longer devices intended exclusively for gaming. With the Xbox 360, then a few years later with the Xbox One, Microsoft, however mocked at the beginning, assumed its strategy of wanting to make its consoles real platforms designed for multimedia use. The Xbox Series X are also in perfect continuity with this philosophy.
In the era of streaming services, the Google Home application understood that it had to quickly implement a new feature to satisfy the uses of Microsoft console owners. If it already allowed you to control your Xbox, to turn it on or off, it will now give you the possibility to do much more than that.
Xbox: when your smartphone turns into a remote control
As reported to us by the site Android Police, the Google Home application will now turn your smartphone into a real remote control for your Xbox. You will be able to control the volume, move forward or backward, pause videos during playback and even navigate the menus of the console using a touch directional pad. In addition, note that the feature is not only reserved for the latest generation consoles since Xbox One owners will also be able to take advantage of it.
If the connection is via Wi-Fi between Google Home and your Xbox, and this can therefore cause some reactivity issues (about half a second) compared to Bluetooth, it is, despite everything, a free and particularly interesting troubleshooting alternative for owners of Android smartphones.
