There were never any rehearsals! – Fake news about pet food in mailboxes

For a few days now, a screenshot of a message has been circulating on the Internet again, which warns about alleged food samples from Fressnapf. According to reports, these are supposed to be thrown into mailboxes in private households and contain poisoned treats. This is a false report!

The Kreuzbergl veterinary practice in Klagenfurt also posted the false report on Facebook and it has already been shared 799 times. This report first appeared on the Internet in 2016, but by whom it is still unknown. “Even back then, Fressnapf took this very seriously and filed a complaint against unknown people. The police then investigated, but never found a single package, Dogorama GmbH announced on its website. Since 2016, this message has appeared and been spread at irregular intervals, most recently in 2018, 2021 and now again. Nevertheless, it should be noted that this report was confirmed neither by the police nor by Fressnapf and that all the clinics asked were unable to identify or confirm a single case of such treats. Origin of the report from 2016 “There was no unasked from Fressnapf either then or now sent food samples. We currently do not have any information or communications from the authorities that suggest any danger to humans or animals. As mentioned, the current report originated in spring 2016: At that time, there were suspicious packages in circulation in the Hamburg area that Fressnapf neither commissioned nor sent. At the time, we filed a complaint against unknown people and worked closely with the authorities there. To date, a confirmed case has never been identified. Of course, we will continue to monitor current developments very closely,” said Fressnapf corporate communications.
