There’s something in there … – Bugatti puts on sinfully expensive surprise eggs

What was first? The car or the egg? This is easier to answer than the chicken and egg question. Of course the egg. But in the case of Bugatti, it is inseparable from the car. Not least because of this, the luxury manufacturer is now launching a series of artificial eggs. Of course, they are outrageously expensive – but not fast despite the lightweight carbon construction.

The French marketing department likes to quote Carlo Bugatti, the father of company founder Ettore Bugatti, who once said: “The purest and most perfect form of nature is the egg.” It served as inspiration for the son’s radiator grille. In current models, it can also be found in the side view in the design.Together with the London jeweler Asprey, Bugatti is now launching an egg, more precisely a whole series for art collectors in a hurry. More specifically, it’s a luxury surprise egg of sorts. World’s most expensive surprise egg? The Royale Edition eggshell is made of carbon fiber and encased in a diamond-shaped sterling silver latticework motif of the “Dancing Elephant” that decorates the bonnet of the Bugatti Type 41 Royale. The intricately designed carbon fiber shell opens with a complex diamond-shaped hinged door to reveal a depiction of the Chateau Saint Jean – Bugatti’s iconic Molsheim headquarters – with a stylized Bugatti in front of it Type 41 Royale Esders in sterling silver, which can be removed. There will be a total of 111 of these eggs, in different designs. The most expensive are said to cost 160,000 British pounds, i.e. around 180,000 euros. A real bargain, as valuables from Molsheim usually cost seven figures. And you even get something extra: no, not a silver salt shaker, but an NFT certificate, i.e. the egg as blockchain art.
