The Thermomix from Vorwerk has probably become a household name for almost everyone in recent years. The all-rounder for the kitchen simplifies and takes over a lot of work when cooking and also provides you with recipes. Lately, however, it has been rather difficult to get hold of a Thermomix. Like many other companies, Vorwerk is also struggling with delivery bottlenecks. The manufacturer’s website currently states a waiting time of around 10 weeks.
But why is that?
Many companies are currently struggling with delivery bottlenecks, especially when it comes to electronic products. The reason for this is the global shortage of so-called semiconductors. These are essential for most electronic devices and are made of silicon. The problem here is that almost every device now requires semiconductors. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a car, a smartphone or a microwave.
In an interview with the Handelsblatt, Thomas Stoffmehl, spokesman for the board of directors of the Wuppertal Vorwerk Group, confirmed that this was also the reason for the Thermomix bottlenecks. According to Stoffmehl, production is currently on hold and is expected to resume in a few days. The manufacturer also expects further delivery bottlenecks until autumn 2022.
As already mentioned, many manufacturers struggle with this problem. In particular, new and sought-after products can usually not be manufactured quickly enough because the semiconductor production is not sufficient. The best example of this is the Playstation 5. Although this appeared about 1.5 years ago, it is still extremely difficult to obtain. The same fate could now befall the Thermomix and many other products.
Alternative to the Thermomix
Even if the Thermomix is undoubtedly an extremely practical kitchen gadget, you can still get similar products at a significantly lower price. A good example of this is Lidl’s Monsieur Cuisine Connect. This was released last year and has a variety of functions and is very similar to the Thermomix.
