these alternative offers even cheaper than the regulated tariffs of EDF and Engie

The tariff shield for regulated tariffs will end in January 2023 for gas and in February for electricity. Presented as the most protective in times of crisis, it will therefore climb. Are there more advantageous offers today? Not that easy.

Soaring prices, investigations opened against certain alternative suppliers and future opportunities that will turn the energy landscape upside down. The electricity and gas market is in the grip of turbulence, while the tariff shield put in place by the government since the end of 2021 will be partially lifted on January 1, 2023. In addition, the regulated gas tariff will disappear at the end of June from the same year. It is already no longer possible to return to it, even if the amount of your bill is racing! A delicate situation when few alternative offers compete today. This is also the case with electricity.

While the bills of subscribers to the regulated gas tariffs will rise by at least 15% in January for gas and February for electricity, are there today more interesting energy offers?

For this, MoneyVox used the standard profiles of the Energy Regulation Commission (CRE) and the comparator offered by the energy mediator to provide an inventory of the market.

Electricity

According to the latest retail market observatory published by CRE, a typical Base EDF customer, consuming 2,400 kWh per year, pays 554 euros per year. For its part, a typical peak/off-peak customer who consumes 8,500 kWh per year, must pay 1,604 euros. Due to the tariff shield, these annual tariffs have not changed. And the alternative suppliers on their side, what do they offer?

Based on the first profile, two offers are more advantageous. This is an Essential electricity supply contract with TotalEnergies with a bill of 540 euros, a gain of… 14 euros compared to the TRV. Its more? A fixed discount of 5 euros per MWHon the price per MWh excluding the sales regulation tariff.

Another better option, the EDF Zen Week-end Plus offer which offers an offer of 552 euros per year. The project? A 30% cheaper offer on weekends plus one day of your choice during the week.

For our peak/off-peak client, four offers may turn out to be interesting with consumption divided into 50% HP and 50% HC compared to TRVs at an annual price of 1594 euros. You can win 51euros cat TotalEnergies (1543 euros per year) with the same essential offer as above.

electricity, gas: reduce your bill with our online comparator

Come next 3 offers from EDF which stand in a pocket handkerchief with the TRVs:

  • Electric Green (advantageous price on weekends and 8 hours a day, off-peak hours), 1584 euros per year;
  • Zen Weekend1589 euros per year;
  • Zen Weekend More1593 euros per year.

By modulating the HP/HC consumption in 60%/40% and 40%/60%, we obtain the first three offers also at substantially identical prices. Note that fixed offer contracts are still missing.

Gas

What if your gas offer no longer satisfies you? If it is impossible to return to TRV, it is always possible to change supplier, free of charge and without interruption. In its observatory, CRE presents the annual bill to the TRV for a typical consumer at tariff B1 who uses gas for heating with an annual consumption of 14,000 kWh.

He will pay 1484 euros in 2022 but this amount would have reached 2206 euros without the tariff shield. Today, there are few such advantageous alternatives.

Two offers emerge: TotalEnergies with a price of 1431 euros per and Engie with price, index on regulated tariffs and blocked for 1 year for 1481 euros per year.
