These brands for babies and kids are REALLY good for the little ones AND the planet

It is still sometimes difficult to find natural clothes that do not harm our skin. It's a big challenge for adults, even more so for the little ones. We have then concocted a list of organic and responsible clothing brands for babies and children, which meet very specific criteria of composition and duration.

Finding organic and responsible clothes that are not soaked in chemicals and that have not been used around the world for their design process is like finding a 100% cashmere sweater. It is not found everywhere, and it is very expensive.

The wrong fabric, a synthetic fabric, can cause various inconveniences on the skin of an adult, as on that of a baby. Materials made by human hands are most often full of toxic products, and some carcinogens. For example, methanal, which makes our jeans beautifully wrinkle-resistant, is a chemical declared carcinogenic by the International Agency for Research on Cancer. The nickel present in the buttons, latex or even synthetic leather cause skin irritation and prevent the skin from eliminating bacteria emitted by perspiration (source: marie-claire). We find that all of this is very appetizing, and makes you want to stick these materials to our skin.

If we don't want to do this kind of treatment on our own skin, why should we do this on babies and children? We have compiled for you a list of some organic and responsible brands for babies and children, and which are sustainable. A soft and pleasant skin that welcomes plaques and rashes would lose its title of “baby skin”. That would be a shame. In addition to this, you need to know more about it.

Perpetuates

Perpète is an organic and eco-responsible brand, accessible and communicative for children from 3 to 8 years old. Resistant and natural, the products are made from GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified organic cotton, which guarantees that at least 95% of the fibers are from organic farming. We know that cotton is insatiable and consumes an astronomical amount of water and pesticides. He is a notorious enemy of the planet. Organic cotton would consume 91% less water than conventional.

If the clothes are not made directly in France, the founders Nathalie and Sandra are transparent on the subject: they called on Portuguese know-how. They did not bet on the cheapest suppliers, of course, but at Perpète, we prioritize quality! The two friends also only work with GOTS certified factories, to ensure that all social standards are met for all partners in the production chain.

The concept

A brand for children, created by mothers. The clothes offered by the brand are resistant, comfortable and made of thick materials. Little extra: they are directly tried on and approved by Nathalie and Sandra's children, to be safe and to be sure that the clothes are easy to put on, even by the little ones. In addition, the pieces are quite basic and offer a range of color in the era of time, without too much fuss.

Clothes that last Perpète”, This is the mantra of the brand. One day the clothes will become too small, and the children will no longer wear them. So, instead of accumulating them in the cupboard, the brand offers you return the products free of charge ! In exchange, depending on the condition, you receive 15 to 40% of the original price as a purchase order. Overly damaged parts will be upcycled. Best of all: There is no deadline for referrals!

The 2 mothers want their clothes to live “several stories”. The concept makes it possible to limit, on a small scale, overproduction, as well as the depletion of natural resources. You have to know it and you have to embrace it: the second hand is the fashion of tomorrow.

The price range is between 25 and 70 €. A little more expensive fashion, but which works for the planet.

The concept

Camille offers us collections on the theme of nature, with floral prints and natural colors, often accompanied by the motif of their mascot, the squirrel Risu Risu. Rises of a fabric home made, the pieces are sewn in a natural jersey and GOTS certified. To continue in the responsible line, the designer tells us about a promise zero waste. Indeed, all fabrics are worn down to their last thread. Small parts like underwear is cut from the remains of the dresses and other bosses. Ingenious!

In order to considerably reduce pollution, the brand favors short trips. Everything is made in Europe: the fabrics are made on the continent, the tailoring is entrusted to small family workshops in Spain, and the dyes come from France or Europe.
