As product recalls intensify in the agri-food industry, Volandry brand smoked cooked chicken is also the subject of a recall. The potential presence of listeria bacteria was detected there.
New recall in sight in the agri-food sector. For several months, many products have been recalled due to the presence, potential or confirmed, of bacteria. Baguettes, sandwiches, hams, cheeses, frozen pizzas, chocolates… the soap operas never end. And the latest one touches the smoked cooked chicken of the Volandry brandsold in Leclerc stores in all of France. In these packaged products “in trays under modified atmosphere”, specifies Rappel Conso, a potential presence of the bacterium listeria, responsible for listeriosis, has been detected there. The affected product was released during the period from May 13 to May 19, 2022, and is part of lot 2860050, followed by six random digits. The expiry date has been set for June 8, 2022.
As with other product recalls, Drink reminder recommends not to consume the product and to bring it back to the point of sale or to throw it away. Customer service is also to be contacted. It is possible to request a refund for this product until Tuesday, July 19, 2022, the date of the end of the recall procedure. “People who have consumed the products mentioned and who have fever, isolated or accompanied by headaches, and body aches are invited to consult their doctor, notifying him of this consumption.”
What are the risks of listeria?
If you ingest the agent Listeria monocytogenes, it is better not to take things lightly. Contamination with this bacterium can develop listeriosis, “disease which can be serious and whose incubation period can be up to eight weeks”, specifies Rappel Conso. In some cases, listeriosis can evolve into serious forms, especially in pregnant women, as well as immunocompromised people and the elderly. “Severe forms with neurological complications and maternal or fetal damage in pregnant women can also sometimes occur”specifies the site.
