These corners that we all forget to clean in the kitchen: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

At the end of the day or after each meal, we often have the habit of partially cleaning our kitchen. Splashes of fat or sauce, bread crumbs, vegetable peelings… When cooking, we logically create dirt. Some places seem obvious to us to clean. This is particularly the case for the hotplates, the sink, the work surface, etc. On the other hand, certain corners tend to be a little more forgotten. Anna Baraf from Instagram account @homeset_by_anna gives us his tips for cleaning them.

What are the corners we forget to clean in the kitchen?

Mechanically, we mainly clean where we see the dirt, it’s quite logical. Faced with crumbs or stains, we obviously have the reflex to take a sponge to clean. However, it is certainly in the places that we cannot see that it is even more necessary to clean: dirt accumulates there quickly because, as you will see, we use these surfaces every day. This concerns the edges of the hob but also the sink, the corners of the oven door or even the drain plug.

How to clean the edges of the hob?

Everyone cleans their hob, but we don’t always think about the edges. To clean your hob thoroughly, without leaving marks, do not hesitate to use a sponge (but especially not on the abrasive side) or a microfiber cloth. You can wash with soapy water or, if it’s really dirty, with white vinegar. To observe the edges of the cooking plate, lean to one side, you will be amazed. Bread or dough crumbs, when they are small, unfortunately find their place there. To clean these edges without damaging the joints, you will simply need a knife and some paper towels. Wrap your knife with your paper towel and gently run along the edges, trying to push the dirt outwards. You can also use an old toothbrush with Marseille soap.

How to have clean sink edges?

Just like the edges of the hob, we don’t always think about cleaning the edges of the sink properly. It is quite simple to clean the inside of the sink, especially with white vinegar and a brush, for some, or just water with soap and a microfiber cloth for the most fragile. After washing it, you should dry your sink well to prevent limescale from building up. We don’t always realize that dirt can build up on the edges of the sink, but we should clean them as often as the sink. To do this, you can use exactly the same technique as for the edges of the baking sheet. If you have a black sink, you can add a coat of vegetable oil to the entire surface of your sink for added shine.

How to get a drain plug like new?

When the sink is clogged, we have several reflexes such as emptying the siphon, adding product or even using a suction cup. However, it is important to unscrew the drain plug from time to time to clean it properly. You can then put baking soda and hot water or white vinegar on it and then scrub with a bottle brush, for example. Be careful not to cut yourself when removing it.

Which part of the oven do we often forget to clean?

There are places on the oven that we often forget to clean. These are the corners of the oven window, precisely. @homeset_by_anna recommends bending a toothpick to access it as best as possible.
