These demos under Unreal Engine 5 will make you forget the Avatar 2 trailer

Demos showing the prowess of the Unreal Engine 5 graphics engine are multiplying. And they are all more bluffing than each other.

We’ve been hearing about the Unreal Engine 5 for several years now. We still remember the very first preview shared by Epic Games in 2020, with the PS5 as the distribution platform. We also remember The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experiencean interactive demo designed to show what tomorrow’s video games will really look like.

In a statement released on April 5, 2022, Epic Games announced the availability of Unreal Engine 5 for all creators. An important step, which means that we will soon be playing games using this very advanced 3D engine. Moreover, several large upcoming productions will use its strengths, such as the future Tomb Raider or the next The Witcher. This will also be the case for Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, which dazzled with a 6-minute trailer. And of course, Fortnite will sooner or later migrate to the Unreal Engine 5.

While waiting to see the projects multiply, several demos available show how powerful the Unreal Engine 5 is. We offer you a small selection to make you forget the trailer ofAvatar 2.

Unreal Engine 5 and the fantasy of photorealism

We start with a fantasy shared by many developers: to design a video game that completely breaks the border with reality. 3D artist, Lorenzo Drago had fun recreating the Etchū-Daimon station located in Japan with a fidelity that makes you dizzy. The clip only lasts a handful of seconds but really borders on respect. It’s simple, we really have the impression of investing the place. It’s stunning. We specify it anyway: such a rendering can be achieved because it is a 100% controlled environment. A real video game brings together too many parameters to reach this level of quality.

The Last of Us, in remake mode

It seems that a remake of The Last of Us would currently be in preparation on the side of Sony. It would allow owners of a PlayStation 5 to (re)discover the cult survival game, born on PlayStation 3, with new graphics. What would it look like with Unreal Engine 5? Maybe at the video below. Spoiler: we want to play it again under these conditions.

Zelda, if a Switch Pro existed

We may love Nintendo and its many cult licenses, but it is clear that the limited power of its consoles does not allow it to reach high graphic standards. We still keep in mind the technical problems suffered by The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at the launch of the Nintendo Switch. Ever wondered what a Link adventure might look like if released on a more powerful platform? Admire this flamboyant remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on the Unreal Engine 5. The video makes you want to revive the indiscretions on a possible Switch Pro. One day, Nintendo exclusives will look like this.

open world superman

The incredible demo The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience has inspired more than one. An enthusiast, for example, had fun integrating Superman, a famous superhero from the DC Comics team, into the accessible city in the Matrix universe. Many fans would like to see an adaptation of the adventures of Superman on the level of the Batman: Arkham trilogy. This creation, accessible at this address, turns a dream into reality.

Real gameplay under Unreal Engine 5

Some studios did not wait for Epic Games’ announcement to start using the Unreal Engine 5. This allows us to discover real gameplay.
