Which dwellings benefit from property tax exemptions?

Property tax must be paid between 15 and 17 October 2023 at the latest. It begins to be sent to owners, who must have in mind the possible exemptions. The owners concerned are in particular people aged over 75 and beneficiaries of theAllowance for disabled adults, AAH, means-tested. They are completely exempt. For people aged between 65 and 75, a reduction of 100 euros can be applied, also depending on income. Those who benefit fromSupplementary disability allowance (UPS) or Asolidarity rental for the elderly (Aspa) are also completely exempt from property tax now. The website of Public service precise : “For married couples, the condition of age or disability may only be met by one of the spouses”.

The income ceiling depends on the family quotient. In 2023, we must not not exceed 11,885 euros in income for the first tax part, and the 3,174 euros for each of the additional half-shares.

Good to know: for two years, new housing, in VEFA contract (Sale in the future state of completion) or in purchase on plan are exempt. However, they must be declared to the public finance center, maximum 90 days after the end of construction. Vacant dwellings can benefit from it if an exemption is claimed before December 31, that the accommodation has been free for more than three months, that the vacancy is involuntary and that “the non-use must affect either the entire building, or a part that can be rented or operated separately”.
