These fake Sézane promotions on Facebook are just scams

Advertisements on Facebook offer attractive promotions for the Sézane brand. Behind these offers hide fraudulent imitations of the official site.

Fans of the Sézane brand are the new target of cybercriminals. Fake pages are promoted on Facebook and display attractive promotions on the latest collections. By clicking on these ads, we come across clone sites of the trendy brand, usurping the style and aesthetic of the official page. So-called discounts are applied to each product. Naturally, Sézane’s clothes are not sold for around twenty euros and the Internet user who goes shopping there will never receive their order.

To promote these scams, hackers use hacked Facebook accounts, which they transform into a sales page. Numerama came across the profile of a Brazilian user, victim of hacking, whose account was redesigned as an e-commerce store. Posts from the fake page called “fall sale” were then sponsored and distributed. Users may have come across these ads.

Phishing sites for the fall/winter season

Numerama has spotted three phishing sites created in the last month: sezanesale-fr[.]top, sezanefr-sale[.]vip and sezanestore[.]shop. All of these fraudulent platforms have been seized, but other clone sites may still be circulating. All three domains were hosted in China. This does not necessarily mean that the scammers are Chinese, but that Chinese companies are not very careful about the activity of their customers.

The only viable site for France is: www.sezane.com/fr. If you come across a suspicious site, you can check whether it has already been reported on phishing-initiative.eu. It is also possible to check the creation date on platforms such as “whois”. A site that is too new can be a sign of a potential scam.
