The end of a dream. France was in turmoil at the idea of seeing the sublime Diane Leyre carry the tricolor standard during the Miss Universe competition, which was held in El Salvador on Saturday November 18, 2023. After giving up her participation last year due to her busy schedule, leaving her place to her first runner-up Floriane Bascou, the bubbly 26 year old brunette was determined to bring the cup, or rather the scarf, home, like Iris Mittenaere in 2016. However, Amandine Petit’s successor did not qualify for the top 20 and it was the sublime Sheynnis Palacios, Miss Nicaragua, who was crowned during this prestigious evening.
“It’s a disappointment, but especially for my country and the people who supported me. It’s like that. I failed my preliminary show, I didn’t do well on stage”, Diane Leyre bitterly confided toTV Mag Figarofollowing this defeat. Same story on his Instagram account: “ I gave my best to try to represent you. Unfortunately, the scene got to me. From the beginning, you know, the stage is not my thing. I tried, I worked, it’s not for me .” Unsure, the co-host of the Morning without filteron Virgin Radio was therefore during the preliminary test of the competition, which was held during the week. “It stressed me out”
In an interview given toFigaroFriday November 17, 2023, Miss France 2022 returned to his complicated passage on stage before the big night. “I had an eye irritation from my makeup just before going on stage, so it was blinking a lot”, she revealed. And to specify: “Qhen I was little, I had chickenpox in my eyes and, ever since, my eyes have been very, very fragile.” If Diane Leyre tried to keep a cool head by parading in a swimsuit as well as an evening dress, Illana Barry’s cousin, Miss Languedoc-Roussillon 2020, was somewhat disturbed by his eye problem : “It stressed me out because I told myself that it was going to show on camera and, as a result, it disturbed me on stage. I was practically blind during the whole show…”
