"These men are not monsters": the disturbing defense of Coline Berry's lawyer: Femme Actuelle The MAG

The emotion was palpable on the set of C to you, Monday February 15, 2021. Almost two weeks later the revelations of Coline Berry, actor's daughter Richard berry, who accuses her father of committing incest when she was six to ten years old, her lawyer Me Karine Shebabo was invited on the set of C to you sure France 5. Faced with Anne-Elisabeth Lemoine, still upset by Audrey Pulvar's testimony a few hours earlier on France Inter, the presenter tried to find out more about the path that led to the actor's daughter to testify forty years after the facts. As her lawyer explains, the shock wave from Camille Kouchner's book, La Familia Grande, would have allowed Coline Berry to find the necessary strength. On January 24, 2021, she lodged a complaint against her father for "rape and sexual assault on a minor of 15 years by ascendant".

"These men are not monsters. That's what you have to understand"

During this interview, it was above all a question of discussing the notion of prescription in French law. Indeed, just like the facts alleged against Olivier Duhamel last January, the incest that could have committed Richard Berry is the subject of a prescription since it dates back forty years. For Me Karine Shebabo, having the accused convicted is not the victim's main goal: "Today, the simple recognition of the facts is enough for her. She worked enormously with her father, so that what was done to her is heard. She has never been heard", explained the lawyer. "If she had been heard, she might not have taken this matter publicly?", asks Anne-Elisabeth Lemoine. "That is an appreciation that only she can give you", Me Karine Shebabo answers. But that's not all.

At the end of the show, Coline Berry's lawyer wanted to convey a message about the perpetrators of sexual violence: "I would like to tell Audrey Pulvar, and all the others, that these men are not monsters. This is what must be understood. It is not because a man is nice, that he presents well and that he is with us at a meeting, that we know him in a professional setting or otherwise … that he cannot be an author such gestures. This is what must be understood ", she said, in a very solemn tone, before concluding: "They also have their share of humanity. It is also all the difficulty for Coline Rojtman to know the part of humanity of her father beyond all that she underwent on his part ".
