These numbers predict the end for PlayStation and Co

For many gamers, consoles and the PC are the ultimate gaming solution. However, more and more people are now keen to take a lap on their smartphone and the number is increasing. Looking at Activision Blizzard’s financial report, the future seems to be in mobile gaming.

Games on the smartphone: Business is booming like never before

Activision Blizzard has released its Q2 2022 financial report. This shows that the publisher in the last three months more than half of its sales come from mobile games has achieved.

While PC and console sales generated $332 million and $376 million in revenue, respectively, the company’s “mobile and ancillary businesses” to a staggering $831 million in sales.

The release of Diablo Immortal could be responsible for this. Although the game is now available on the PC, its popularity on mobile devices has not diminished either. Already in the first two weeks after publication the game has been downloaded more than eight million times. It’s a free-to-play game, but through in-app purchases, Activision Blizzard has made over $100 million from it in two months.

As a reason for the declining PC and console sales, Activision Blizzard calls the “lower commitment to the Call of Duty series“And also with World of Warcraft the publisher has to accept declining numbers of players.

Microsoft buys Activision Blizzard and soon makes money with Call of Duty, WoW and Co.:

It is not for nothing that top games such as Fall Guys and Co. are now also available for the handy devices. But it also works the other way around, because sometimes the beginning on mobile devices is the Kick-off for a successful PC and/or console game. There are examples like Genshin Impact, Among Us and Diablo Immortal, with the latter certainly serving as a bridge to the release of Diablo 4 for many.

A trend could already be seen last year:
